We all have periods when we can’t get a good night’s sleep. Especially nowadays, when stress and electromagnetic frequencies from all the types of electronics are a normal part of our daily life. Bright lights and all other modern factors affect our sleep hormones, which make us having a hard time falling asleep, staying asleep, and waking up rested.

Our brain, nervous system, and hormones can all be affected by various external and internal factors, causing problems to fall asleep and get a good quality sleep.

Some of the sleeping pills’ side effects are constipation, dizziness, memory problems, difficulty focusing, stomach pain, and harm to the central nervous system.

If our body is deprived of sleep, it can’t function properly. Our energy drops, our motor skills decline, our cognitive skills impair, and our body becomes more prone to various health conditions like diabetes, obesity, and cancer. In other words, proper and good quality sleep is of vital importance for all people.

Our body needs at least 8 hours of sleep every night in order to feel and function better and to protect us from various diseases. But, how to get the effect of sleeping pills without feeling their side effects? The answer is simple – with banana cinnamon tea.

It is well known that bananas contain high amounts of magnesium and potassium, but did you know that the peel of this fruit contains, even more, potassium and magnesium that the banana itself? That’s right. People constantly throw away this incredible source of some of the most important minerals our body needs.

Magnesium and potassium help relax the muscles and are very beneficial for our nervous system. Magnesium especially, helps our muscle relax and relieves muscle cramps and pain. The first mineral that depletes when we are under stress is magnesium. As you can see, we need this mineral to cope with stress, thus relaxing us and helping us fall asleep. The recipe we present in this post provides all of these benefits.

Balanced levels of blood sugar enable the proper function of sleep hormones. Cinnamon is one of the best ways to achieve this. If we have distorted levels of blood sugar, we might be energetic throughout the night but tired during the day. Cinnamon, banana, and banana peel possess therapeutic values that will help you get rid of insomnia and other sleep disorders for good.

Banana Cinnamon Tea Recipe

Ingredients

  • One small pot of water
  • One organic banana (with peel)
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon

Preparation

Cut off both, the top and the bottom end of the banana. Boil the spring water and add the banana. Then, boil for another ten minutes, and remove the banana. Sprinkle some cinnamon in the liquid for taste. If you like sweeter tea, you can add stevia. That’s it! You have your sleep-enhancing tea prepared. Drink it before going to bed.

Another option is to eat the boiled banana, without the peel this time, and with some cinnamon sprinkled on it. It’s not good to eat it before sleeping as your gut will have to digest it throughout the night. So, the best thing is to eat it during the day.
